Daypoint Helps Area Education Agency 267 Monitor Over 600 Special Education Staff Members Working Throughout Iowa Situation Overview 
Covering over 9,000 square miles and serving more than 69,000 students throughout Iowa, including 61 public school districts and 24 non-public school districts, Area Education Agency 267 (AEA 267) is an intermediate agency focused on improved student learning. AEA 267 works with educators, parents and the communities it serves by providing support in three areas: Educational Services, Information & Technology and Special Education.
In the area of Special Education, one important role of the agency involves staffing schools in the district with special education professionals to meet the needs of children who may require services, including speech and language therapy, physical and occupational therapy, special education instructional support, assistive technology for severe communication disorders, and several other special needs services. With education funding tight, the districts share a special education staff comprised of over 600 teachers, consultants, coordinators and supervisors throughout Iowa.
